Nutrition really is the 4th discipline in triathlon, and directly related to your athletic performance. At our first meeting we will go over what you're eating currently and discuss a nutrition plan that will support your training and race goals. It is absolutely important to practice race day nutrition in training to figure out what will work for you, in terms of taking in what you need, without any GI issues.
What works for one athlete does not always work for another. Pay attention to you body and how it responds to different solids and gel forms of race nutrition. Caffeinated or non caffeinated gels are a consideration for a lot of athletes. It's always great to research what on course nutrition will be offered at aid stations during your race, and then possibly train using it. Some athletes choose to carry as much of their own nutrition as they can on the bike. We will decide together what works for you.
Nutrition outside of training and racing is just as important. You can not out train a bad diet. An athlete must consider everything they are putting in their bodies as related to performance. A great motto to go by: "JERF"- Just Eat Real Food.
